# of beds available at these shelters for homeless youth
# of young people estimated to be without a home on any given night in Toronto
# of youth estimated to be homeless at one point in a given year in Toronto
Covenant House is the country's largest emergency shelter for street kids, offering food, medical care, counselling and educational assistance to more than 20,000 young people annually.  Its mission is to provide youth in crisis with refuge and alternatives to the degradation of street life.

You may know the numbers, but can you identify the acronym?

The Office of Catholic Youth supports Youth Ministry in the Archdiocese of Toronto by developing programs and workshops to help facilitate youth participation in the greater Church community.  The office organizes spiritual, social and service opportunities to help energize existing youth programs in addition to leadership training and on-going support for young people, young adults and parish Youth Ministry teams.  Service opportunities include:  the Summer of Service community service program; the Cold Squad and Street Patrol programs serving Toronto's homeless population; and CLIMB, training youth leaders in a faith-based setting.
