Third World Development & Missions

Sometimes numbers tell the story ...

$ needed to enable an adult to participate in a basic literacy program in El Salvador
$ that will feed a family in Rwanda for one week, while they work towards self-sufficiency
$ that will buy a sewing machine for an income-generating project in Idah, Nigeria
$ needed to bring a dozen Kenyan women together to organize self-help projects in brick-making, tailoring or sugar-cane planting
Canadian Catholic Organization for Development & Peace is the official international development organization of the Catholic Church in Canada and is the Canadian member agency of Caritas Internationalis.  It is a membership-based organization founded in 1967 by Canada's bishops, laity and clergy to fight poverty in the countries of the South, and to promote greater international justice. Inspired by Gospel values, particularly "the preferential option for the poor," the goals of Development & Peace are to support initiatives by people in the Global South to take control of their lives and to educate Canadians about North-South issues. Education, advocacy and fund-raising work here at home is carried out by Development & Peace members from coast to coast.
