Humanitarian Relief Effort – Typhoon Frank (Fengshen)
Toronto (July 3, 2008) – The ShareLife office will be accepting donations to support humanitarian relief efforts underway in the Philippines as a result of Typhoon Frank (Fengshen.)
The Catholic Church’s official relief body, Caritas Internationalis, is coordinating the efforts for its 162 national members, working with staff in the region. As has been the case in the past, contributions will be channelled through the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development & Peace, the Caritas representative organization in Canada.
Those wishing to help may do so in the following ways:
- Online through ShareLife’s website
- By phone through the ShareLife office – 1-800-263-2595 or 416-934-3411
- Through the parish, making cheques payable to:
ShareLife – Name of Parish – Typhoon Frank Relief
(Parishes are asked to gather funds together and send one parish cheque to the ShareLife office.)
We offer our prayers for the thousands of families affected by this natural disaster. Thank you for your ongoing efforts to serve the poor and marginalized both here at home and around the world.
Be assured that ShareLife does not apply any administrative fees to humanitarian relief contributions, ensuring as much money as possible is directed toward assistance of those in crisis.

As the Clock Ticks Down…
(July 11, 2008)
With just over two weeks left in our 2008 ShareLife campaign, I’m both thankful and anxious – with your help we have achieved a great deal, but there is still more to do in support of the agencies funded by our efforts.
We have passed the $10.1 million mark in our parish campaign – a remarkable feat, for sure – but remain nearly $2 million from our goal. Please keep the cause of ShareLife and the Catholic agencies we serve in your prayers. And encourage anyone who has yet to make a contribution to do so – the crucial services provided to more than 200,000 people this year rely on us. Donate here, if you haven’t yet made a contribution to the 2008 campaign.
I’d like to take a moment to thank you for another reason. While we work diligently to support the ShareLife agencies and grant recipients we fund every year, our office also supports disaster relief appeals – as many of you know. Contributions to humanitarian relief efforts this year have already exceeded $750,000 primarily in support of disaster victims in Asia, Africa, and South America. Thank you to all who have contributed to these worthy causes as well.
Thank you once again for your support of ShareLife!
Sincerely,
Arthur Peters,
Executive Director, ShareLife
