2006 Corporate Campaign
Surpasses Goal
(August 31, 2006) The ShareLife Corporate
Campaign shot past its goal to reach an all-time high in 2006.
In its 30th year, the Corporate
Campaign generated total contributions of over $1.325 million, more than
$75,000 above the goal announced last October. This increase comes on the
heels of similar success in 2005, when the goal of $1.15 million was
surpassed by more than $55,000.
"It appears that the business
community has a growing appreciation of the importance of the ShareLife
campaign to social service agencies throughout the GTA and beyond," says
Keith Hall, Manager of Corporate & Community Campaigns at ShareLife. "We are
very appreciative of the momentum achieved under the leadership of Maurice
Hudon as our Chair through the past two successful campaigns."
The 2006 campaign achieved an increase
in canvassed corporate donors, and a new record for the amount raised
through the annual ShareLife Corporate Golf Tournament. Highlights of the
campaign included the addition of 12 new individual Corporate Patrons to the
campaign (including ShareLife’s first non-Catholic patron) and overwhelming
positive feedback on changes made to the format of the annual golf event.
"We are certainly on the right track
with our Corporate Campaign initiatives," says Arthur Peters, Executive
Director of ShareLife. "We are confident that we will continue our success
achieved over the past two years under the leadership of our new Corporate
Chair, Colleen Johnston. Ms. Johnston, Executive Vice President and Chief
Financial Officer of TD Bank Financial Group, assumed the chair August 1,
following the two-year term of Mr. Hudon, who is Senior Executive Vice
President and Head of National Office Personal and Commercial Client Group
at BMO Bank of Montreal.
Planning is now underway for the 2007
Corporate Campaign, which will be launched in October.

ShareLife Corporate Campaign
Update: Increased Commitment, New Donors and a New Executive Member
|
(January 20, 2006) The ShareLife Corporate Campaign
2006 is off to an encouraging start in the New Year, with new donors,
increased financial contributions and a new executive committee member.
With an increased campaign goal of $1.25 million,
ShareLife Corporate Campaign 2006 is tracking well in some key areas. To
date, the campaign has received the largest donation in its history from
either an individual or a corporation. We express our deep appreciation to
Mr. Joseph Pope for his generosity. The campaign has also attracted two new
patrons and some significant increases from both patrons and corporate
donors. However, a great deal of work remains to be done.
ShareLife Corporate Campaign 2006 follows on the heels
of the most successful corporate campaign in ShareLife history. Last year,
the campaign exceeded its goal of $1.15 million, reaching $1,207,581 with
the strong support of generous corporate citizens in the Archdiocese of
Toronto. This year, the need is greater than ever. As a result, ShareLife
has committed an additional $375,000 in new funding to ShareLife social
service agencies, responding to the increasing calls for help from those in
need in our
communities.
Bolstering the campaign effort, Joseph Markson, a
partner in Toronto-based The Barristers Group, has been named a Vice-Chair
of the ShareLife Corporate Campaign. Outside of his legal practice, Mr.
Markson is president of the parish council at St. Teresa’s in Etobicoke and
is a director of The National Club. His talents are a welcome addition to
the ShareLife Corporate Campaign 2006 team. |

ShareLife Corporate donor, Mr. Joseph Pope, was among more than 400
people who gathered in Concord n February 16, 2006 to attend the
ShareLife 30th Anniversary Reception, celebrating 30 years of caring and
sharing in the Archdiocese of Toronto. |
(February 17, 2006) ShareLife recently celebrated
its 30th anniversary, marking three decades of support for Catholic
charities.
Despite freezing rain and icy road conditions, more than 400 community,
corporate and church leaders attended a reception February 16 at the
Renaissance Parque in Concord, ON to mark the 30-year milestone. Since its
inception in 1976, ShareLife has raised more than $250 million to support
Catholic charities within the boundaries of the Archdiocese – stretching
from Oshawa to Mississauga, and from Toronto to Midland.
"Over the past 30 years, ShareLife has had a direct and meaningful impact
on thousands of needy people within our Archdiocese, regardless of religious
affiliation," said Arthur Peters, executive director of ShareLife. "This
celebration gives us an opportunity to showcase the work of the 34 ShareLife-funded
agencies and to thank many of the volunteers and donors who have contributed
to our success, including those who have been involved since the very
beginning."
The reception, sponsored by St. Joseph Communication, included the live
music of the St. Michael Catholic Academy band, Thornhill, as well as
speeches and reminiscences from Bishop John Boissonneau, Chancellor of
Spiritual Affairs for the Archdiocese of Toronto; Rudy DeSiato St. Joseph
Communication and Salt & Light Television; ShareLife Chairman of the
Advisory Board Michael McBride; ShareLife Executive Director Arthur Peters;
and Mike Cyr, of ShareLife agency Silent Voice. The evening also marked the
launch of ShareLife’s latest promotional video two weeks prior to the
beginning of the 2006 parish campaign, which coincides with the Catholic
Lenten season.

Chisholm with a gift in appreciation for his many years of service to
the ShareLife Corporate Campaign. The gift and a lunch held in
his honour are a token of the Cardinal's appreciation for Mr.
Chisholm's support as a past Campaign Chair, long-time canvasser and
patron of the Corporate Campaign. Mr. Chisholm recently retired
from his position as Vice Chair at the Bank of Nova Scotia.

ShareLife Corporate Golf Tournament a Great Success!
More than 124 generous golfers took part in the 11th
annual ShareLife Corporate Golf Tournament, sponsored by ScotiaBank, held

golf and camaraderie over the championship course, followed by fine dining,
prize presentations and a silent auction.
All tolled, the sponsors, donors and golfers who participated in the
daylong event raised more than $60,000 (after expenses) for ShareLife’s 30

heights as we work to serve those in need throughout the Greater Toronto
Area.
New ShareLife Corporate Chair
Named
(July 21, 2006) His Eminence Aloysius Cardinal Ambrozic has confirmed the
appointment of Colleen Johnston as the 24th Chair of the ShareLife
Corporate Campaign.
Currently the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of TD
Bank Financial Group, Johnston will assume the Chair of the campaign
committee as of August 1. Maurice Hudon, Senior Executive Vice President and
Head of National Office Personal and Commercial Client Group at BMO Bank of
Montreal, ends his term having led ShareLife to record efforts over the
previous two campaigns.
"We’re delighted to welcome Colleen Johnston to ShareLife and are
confident that her guidance and leadership will build on the momentum of
recent successes," ShareLife Executive Director Arthur Peters said of the
recent announcement. "We also express our profound gratitude to Maurice
Hudon, who has led us to consecutive record results in the ShareLife
Corporate Campaign."
Johnston, the first woman to hold the Corporate Chair’s position at
ShareLife, will work with companies, small businesses, corporate canvassers
and individual donors as ShareLife and its agencies work to address a
growing need for support in the greater community.
"I am delighted to take on this important position," says Johnston. "The
work being done by ShareLife agencies serves a critical role in the Greater
Toronto Area. It’s important to raise awareness of the needs in our
community and to inspire a response from the corporate sector – our
ShareLife Corporate Campaign will continue to tackle that challenge."
Johnston is an FCA, having started her career with Price Waterhouse in
1982. Prior to joining TD Bank in 2004, she held progressively senior roles
within the financial services sector. She has been active as a corporate
volunteer as well, having served as the Chair of the Bridgepoint Health
Board of Directors from 2003 to 2005 and continues to hold a seat on that
board.
ShareLife, the official charitable annual fundraising initiative of the
Archdiocese of Toronto, supports 30 Catholic social service organizations,
serving more than 100,000 people every year in the greater community. In
2006, the ShareLife Corporate Campaign exceeded its fundraising goal of
$1.25 million, an increase of $100,000 over the 2005 Campaign goal.
ShareLife is a nationwide leader in using donor funds responsibly and
effectively – more than 90 cents of every donated dollar goes directly to
ShareLife agencies.
