Development and Peace is the international development arm of the Canadian Catholic
Church, established in 1967 by Canada's bishops and a concerned group of laity and clergy
to increase awareness of the causes of poverty and injustice. During the past three
decades, Development and Peace has provided more than $300 million to improve working and
living conditions in more than 70 countries. They also provide emergency relief abroad for
natural disasters, civil disturbances and other human tragedies.

The Pastoral Mission Fund was established in 1982 to direct funds to worthy missionary
and pastoral programs in the Third World, especially where no other help is available.
Through this ShareLife funded agency, funds are allocated for the support of missionaries,
the provision of bicycles, religious education and training supplies for mission areas of
the Church as well as providing for the education of seminarians and religious along with
lay catechists.
