In October, members of the ShareLife Advisory Board visited Canadian Food for Children, founded by Dr. Andrew Simone and his wife Joan. Theirs is the only Catholic organization that ships food from Canada, and over 400 containers of food are shipped from his warehouse to 28 different countries during the course of the year. While there, we learned that the organization has no paid staff, is managed entirely by volunteers, and that students volunteer to help load a shipment of food almost every day in the school year. Dr. Simone explained the impact of the ShareLife contributions to those who he serves: each year, he is able to ship nine containers of split peas to locations around the world, feeding over 2 million people as a result of our generosity. It is incredible to imagine that we are able to make such a difference through our ShareLife grant to this organization.
