Loyola Arrupe Centre for Seniors

Because you give . . . smiles are wider.

The residents of ShareLife-funded Loyola Arrupe Centre for Seniors are living proof that your donation does make a difference in someone’s life. Rose, 69, says ShareLife’s support of Loyola Arrupe helps her and other seniors enjoy a lifestyle they deserve.

ShareLife funding supports programs at the Centre for those living in residence, as well as for those seniors who continue to live in the community and drop in to participate. "I love it here," says Rose, who moved into the Centre about a year ago. "There’s so much to do in the building – we have a seniors social once a week, exercise class, they have computer rooms. They give us computer lessons.

We laugh and we joke and we play cards. I find all the benefits great. People are always around and if you need anything they’re there to support you. It’s just great to be in a safe place with people your own age."

She says living there has enhanced her quality of life.

"I have a disability and I didn’t feel comfortable living alone in my house any more. After I saw (Loyola Arrupe) I knew this is where I wanted to be.

I still have my independence, but it’s comforting to know that if something goes wrong there is a pager number to call and someone is always on staff.

You’re not alone. This place may not be here if it wasn’t for the support of people who donate to ShareLife."

The staff are very caring and I've made a lot of friends here.  I am asked if I won a million dollars, would I move from the Houses of Providence.  I say, "I would move to a private room but I would never leave this place."
